Survey Junkie Review

Everybody wants to earn more money. Even if they say they’re fine with their current income, they would love to have a little more. And one way you could bring in a supplemental income is through Survey Junkie.

Yes, this is another one of those survey sites. But is it actually worth your time? That’s what we’ll cover in this Survey Junkie review.

What Does Survey Junkie Offer?

Survey Junkie, as the name suggests, lets you complete surveys in exchange for points. These points can then be redeemed for cash or gift cards.

You can either login to your account to take the surveys or you can have them email you the surveys.

It’s pretty simple.

How To Get Started With Survey Junkie

To get started, all you do is enroll on their website, entering your basic info, like name, email address, zip code, date of birth, and gender. You don’t even need to verify your email before getting signed up. That makes one less step you have to do, making the whole process easier (although you will have to verify it at some point).

Once you get signed up, you’ll see your dashboard. Over to the left, you’ll see your total number of points and what they equal in Dollars.

Once you confirm your email address, you’ll get 25 points. After you complete the “How It Works” section, you get another 5 points. And then once you complete your profile, you’ll get an extra 50 points.

Then you can hit the Surveys option to get started and choose the types of “research activity” you prefer. You can choose things like product testing, an online focus group, an in-person focus group, and/or a phone survey.

To complete your profile, Survey Junkie will ask you a series of questions. Things like if you have any pets, what your living situation is, and some questions about your employment.

How To Make Money With Survey Junkie

Once your account is all set up, you can take a bunch of different surveys. Before you choose a survey, you’ll be able to see how many points you’ll earn (usually between 20 and 200) and approximately how long the survey will take. This is nice if you like to figure out how much you’re making per hour.

Another way you can earn points is by adding the browser extension Survey Junkie Pulse, which will give you a boatload of points in exchange for it being able to monitor your web activity.

As soon as you finish a survey, you’ll see the points reflected on the left-hand side of your dashboard (other survey sites don’t give you your points right away). Once you have 1,000 points ($10 cash value), you can exchange them for gift cards or have the money transferred to your PayPal account.

You should know that your points won’t expire unless you stop using the account. As long as you stay somewhat active — at least one survey every 12 months — you won’t lose points. This is in contrast to many survey sites that give out points that expire after a short period of time, which is annoying and turns people off to those sites.

How Much Can You Actually Make With Survey Junkie?

This is the million-dollar question (literally?). Can this be a legitimate part of your income? Could you be a full-time survey-taker?

Let me just burst your bubble right here — you won’t be able to quit your day job. But that doesn’t mean you can make a supplemental income from it. How many times have you sat on the couch over the past 12 months on a NetFlix Binge? This is the perfect time to earn a little spending money.

As I briefly mentioned above, the surveys range from 20 reward points to 200. The average survey will pay you anywhere between $1 and $3 — those numbers aren’t too impressive when compared to your current job. But when put side-by-side with other survey sites, that’s about what you can expect.

The main factors that play into how much money you make include:

  • How many surveys you’re invited to take
  • How many of those survey you end up taking
  • How much time you spend on each survey

Typically, you can qualify for as many as three or four surveys per week. But most likely, you’ll end up getting one or two each week. So if each survey pays $3 (best-case scenario), then you may be able to make about $12 per month.

Yeah, it’s only $12. But you will have spent only a few minutes on all of the surveys combine.

Pros And Cons Of Survey Junkie

Now let’s look at some of the good and bad of Survey Junkie.

By far, the biggest complaint is that Survey Junkie doesn’t offer enough surveys to users. However, this is not a unique complaint about them — users of almost every survey site have given this feedback.

Pros:

  • Free to join (survey sites should always be free)
  • Get points just for signing up
  • You can exchange reward points for either cash (via PayPal) or for gift cards
  • Your survey responses help companies make their products and/or services better
  • Your answers are anonymous
  • Registration bonus of 25 points

Cons:

  • The overall payout is going to be low, usually about $12 per month
  • You may start a survey only to realize partway in that you do not qualify to take that survey
  • No payouts allowed until you’ve earned $10 worth of points
  • As of this writing, Survey Junkie only allows people from the United States, Canada, and Australia to sign up

Final Thoughts

So let’s go back to the question we asked at the beginning: is Survey Junkie actually worth your time?

I would say yes if you have some downtime each week and you don’t mind taking surveys.

If you have a few minutes throughout the week, it could totally be worth it. Making $12 a month doesn’t sound like a lot, but if this is something you’re doing in your free time, go for it.

After spending very little time taking these surveys, you could use that money to get two or three fancy coffee drinks each month. You could go out to eat an extra time each month. Heck, some life insurance policies are that affordable.

So the final verdict on Survey Junkie is that you should give it a shot. You can sign up right here.
