Personal Finance Week in Review for June 10

by Sean Bryant on June 10, 2012

Well it official, my beloved Chicago Cubs are now the worst team in baseball.  I knew that this was going to be a bad season but I wasn’t aware of just how bad.  Now that Theo Epstein is their president of baseball operations they are in the process of trying to dump overpaid contracts and start from scratch.   Something that I like to say every summer…maybe next year.

A couple of days ago I made a road trip from Denver back to my parents home in Des Moines, IA. This gave me a lot of time to do some reading and below you will find my five favorite personal finance articles this week.

Overcoming Unemployment Challenges – Modest Money
It’s Not Necessary to Pay for Your Kid’s College Education – Add Vodka
Maximize Savings With a Summer Road Trip – Smart Military Money
Into The Wild – A Glimpse of Extreme Minimalism – Three Thrifty Guys
Rich People Like Fake Jewelry Too – From Shopping to Saving
